About
Nannestad Upper Secondary
School is located in Nannestad community. The school was
recently built in 2004. The school has an exciting architecture and
has many new and modern facilities for the students. With around
750 students and 6 diverse curriculum programs, all students can
find a place. The school has a diverse and friendly staff that
creates a quality learning experience for everyone.
Learning center
Nannestad has its own
library/media center where students can borrow books and DVDs, read
the day’s paper, research via the Internet and have access to
computers and software for school projects.
Support
The school also offers an
alternative learning environment, where students have smaller class
sizes, more one on one time with teachers and hands on practice in
the kitchen. Students have the option to work in small groups
or in the larger classroom.
Media and Communication
The Media and
Communication Field of Study is one of the largest educational
programs at our school. There is a lot of activity year round and
students learn about sound, lighting and photography. The
department even has its own TV studio with live broadcasts. During
the second year students are establishing a student company with
other students in the class. Here they are learning how to start a
company and how to manage and run it. The activity from the Media
and Communication Field of Study is also actively involved in the
community with the local residents.
Health Care and Social Services
The Health
Care and Social Services has its own area at our school devoted to
the care of children and youth. Here they have a special room
equipped with toys and other materials needed in their study and
work as they often invite children and youth there as a part of
their training both in-house and out in the field.
Another area of the Health Care and Social Services is that of health care workers. These students are learning to take care of the sick and the elderly. They have their practice out in the field, however, facilities are available at the school for some in-house training.
The skin care section has its own wing equipped with a fine salon where the students can service their clients. The students in skin care learn their trade both in-house and out in the field. They have even made a very professional brochure which is distributed publicly informing of their services and prices.
Restaurant and Catering
The Restaurant and
Catering Field of Study dominates a great deal of our school
environment. They are using the canteen, restaurant and butcher
shop for their teaching and training. Both students and teachers
are involved in this fellowship. The students receive their
teaching in a new, modern facility wearing professional outfits
like those used out in the real world.
The Restaurant and Catering section is not hard to find as its area meets one almost right at the entrance to the school. This section includes the canteen, restaurant and butcher shop run by both students and teachers in a cooperative effort. Students receive their training in modern facilities with the most advanced equipment and in keeping with the qualities and standards used by the professionals in the working world. This department is also cooperating with other school and the local community. They have a restaurant open to the public during certain days of the week.
Service and Logistics
Service and
logistics has a brand new curriculum to enable everyone to reach
the program objectives. Since Nannestad is central to Gardermoen
Airport there are many opportunites for partnerships to enhance the
service and logistics program. Second year students can learn about
ICT (Information Communication Technology). The school has modern
and up-to-date equipment for all their needs.
Preparational Studies
The university
studies program is a central part of the school’s mission.
The students have use of modern facilities with up-to-date, top
notch technology.
Sports Education and Training
Athletics
curriculum is also a strong program at Nannestad. The school has
access to Nannestadhallen, a new modern sports hall, and bus
transportation to allow for learning experiences outside the
classroom. Students are often on excursions where they learn to
live out and survive in nature under the harshest of
conditions.
